Seasonal Reflection

Ecclesiastes 3:1

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.”

There are moments when I imagine my life unfolding according to my own careful plans. I picture certain doors opening, certain relationships lasting, certain dreams taking shape in predictable ways. Yet time and again, God gently reminds me that His vision is wider than mine. What I could never have orchestrated on my own, He weaves together through seasons I did not expect.

A season implies divine intention. It means that what appears sudden or surprising is not outside of God’s timing. There have been seasons when I felt overlooked or delayed, wondering why opportunities I longed for did not come. Yet in hindsight, I see how those quiet stretches were preparing me – reshaping my desires, strengthening my character, and positioning me for something far greater than what I had imagined.

Often, the opportunities God provides do not arrive in the form I anticipate. They may come disguised as inconvenience, redirection, or even disappointment. A closed door can become the very means by which I am guided toward a path I would never have considered. A conversation I almost avoided becomes the seed of something life-changing. An unexpected transition becomes the doorway to growth I did not know I needed.

“For everything there is a season.” That includes seasons of waiting and seasons of stepping forward. It includes moments when God says no, and moments when He says now. The beauty of His timing is that it is not limited by my narrow expectations. He sees connections I cannot see. He knows which opportunities will stretch me, refine me, and bless others through me.

When I look back over my life, I can trace how certain opportunities unfolded at precisely the right time – friendships that strengthened me, responsibilities that matured me, open doors that once felt intimidating but proved transformative. None of them came exactly as I planned, yet each carried the fingerprints of God’s wisdom.

Time is not random; it is purposeful. Seasons are not accidental; they are appointed. And the God who orders time delights in surprising His children with opportunities beyond their imagination. In trusting His seasons, we learn to hold our plans loosely and our faith firmly – believing that what He prepares will always be more beautiful and more meaningful than anything we could design on our own.
