James 3:17
“But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.”
As we journey through life, we are often presented with moments of decision-making that test the depth of our character and the clarity of our faith. Oftentimes we find ourselves at a crossroads, grappling with decisions that tug at the fabric of our values, beliefs, and desires.
It is in these moments that the world tries to appeal to us with its advice – offering quick fixes, self-serving goals, and fleeting pleasures. Yet, amid this noise, James 3:17 provides a gentle yet profound reminder to turn our gaze upward and seek the kind of wisdom we are truly called to seek—a wisdom that reflects the very essence of God.
This heavenly wisdom, described by James, is first and foremost pure. It is untainted by selfish ambition or ulterior motives, calling us to examine the intentions of our hearts.
