Proverbs 3:5-6
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding”.
In times of uncertainty, it can be challenging to resist the urge to rely solely on our understanding and attempt to control every outcome. Last week, I was supposed to launch my new book. I had been waiting for this day since last Summer. I had met with the marketing team and prepped in all the ways imaginable – social media platforms were created, graphics had been designed, and my press release was ready – you name it, we were prepared. The morning of “Book launch”, as I was preparing what I was going to send out my social media posts, emails, and text messages, I was told that I needed to wait, that the time was not now. I immediately froze and moved the cursor away from the “Post” button. I sat, staring at my screen and thought “Now what?” Instantaneously I felt deflated like the wind had been knocked out of my sails. I sat and prayed about it with God. I sat and talked about it with my husband, Joe. I sat and talked about it with my study group. I had no idea why I was being told to hold off. As the day passed, I tried to rationalize everything in my mind. By evening, I still did not understand why I was being told to wait, but I had found peace in my heart that God would reveal to me when it would be time and all I needed to do was trust in Him and be patient.
Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to trust in the Lord wholeheartedly, surrendering our doubts and fears to His divine wisdom. That when we lean on His plan, we can embrace the peace that comes from knowing that He holds our future in His hands. Trusting in God’s plan allows us to bare witness to His blessing as they unfold beyond our imagination. Therefore, let us choose to walk in faith, confident that His plans and timing are perfect, and that His guidance is unfailing.
