Faithful in the Small Things

Luke 16:10

“One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.”

There are days when I sit down to write a devotional or a blog and wonder if it really matters. Sometimes the silence afterward feels heavy, and I find myself asking, Does my writing touch anyone? Is anyone even reading? Maybe you’ve felt the same way – pouring yourself into something, only to question later if it made a difference. The enemy loves to take those quiet moments and whisper lies: No one notices. You’re behind again. Why bother?

But when I catch myself drifting into that discouragement, I remember the promise I made to God: to keep showing up, to keep writing, to faithfully offer back to Him the words He places on my heart. That promise grounds me. Writing is not just something I enjoy – it is both a gift from God and an act of obedience. Each devotional, each blog post, each word I put to paper is an offering of faithfulness in the small things.

Jesus’ words in Luke 16:10 remind us that the “small” acts of obedience are not insignificant. Every time we choose to honor Him in the ordinary, we are being shaped for whatever He entrusts to us next. For me, it looks like writing, even when I feel unseen. For you, it may look like showing kindness to someone who won’t thank you, working with integrity when no one is watching, or praying for a need no one else knows about.

It’s tempting to measure value by visibility – likes, comments, recognition. But God measures differently. What He delights in is obedience. He treasures the heart that keeps showing up, even when the world doesn’t notice. What feels small to us is never small to Him. It is seen. It is honored. And it is multiplied in ways we may never realize.

So, friend, if you’ve ever wondered, Does this really matter? take heart. It does. Your quiet faithfulness counts. God sees every word, every prayer, every hidden act of love. Keep showing up. Keep doing what He has called you to do. Because with God, faithfulness in the little always leads to greater things.
