John 7:38
“Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.”
During the difficult and challenging moments of our lives, John 7:38 reminds us that Jesus extends an invitation to all who believe in Him to come and drink deeply from the life-giving Spirit. This is not a momentary experience, or just a small sip, but a continuous flow of living water that never ceases. This living water represents the Holy Spirit, who brings life, refreshment, and renewal to our souls.
When we place our faith in Jesus, He promises that rivers of living water will flow from within us. That our dry and weary souls will be revived and sustained by His Spirit. But this promise is not just for our own benefit. The living water that flows from within us is meant to touch the lives of those around us. Through acts of kindness, words of encouragement, and steadfast faith, we become channels through which God’s love and goodness flow outward. Our hearts, once parched, become springs that refresh not only ourselves but everyone we encounter. Each day brings new opportunities to let the Spirit’s living water spill over—transforming ordinary moments into sacred opportunities for blessing.
As we embrace this promise, we are invited to cultivate a posture of openness and surrender, allowing the Holy Spirit to flow unhindered through our lives. Sometimes, this means letting go of the barriers we build, whether that’s fear, doubt, or past disappointments, as these barriers block the current of God’s presence. When we yield to His gentle movement, we discover that the river is not stagnant but vibrant, constantly renewing and expanding its reach.
Let us remember that this is not a solitary journey. The rivers from within are meant to merge and multiply as we connect with others in faith. In community, the flow becomes a mighty stream, bringing healing, restoration, and joy to parched ground.
