Hebrews 13:21
“Equip you with everything good that you may do His will…”.
Recently, our pastor delivered a wonderful message on the “Parable of the Talents”. After the service, I pondered on many of the questions that he asked, especially the question about “What type of servant am I?” I know that when I began my walk with Christ, I doubted myself in so many ways. When I was asked to serve at my church, I shied away from it because I truly felt that I was not capable. During that time, I convinced myself that I was not even capable of greeting people as they arrived at church.
Thankfully, Hebrews 13:21 as serves a great reminder of how God equips those He calls, rather than calling the equipped. The profound truth of this resonates deeply within me. As my walk with Christ strengthened, so did the boldness that He instilled in me. I was able to embrace the gifts that He had given me and I began teaching women study groups and writing. I even joined our church’s prayer team. As believers, we are endowed with unique talents and gifts, each one carefully crafted by God. And while, it is common for many of us to underestimate these gifts, doubting our abilities and worthiness, just like I did, we must place our faith and trust in God so that we can overcome these barriers and fulfill the purpose He has for us.
As I continued to ponder on the question “What type of servant am I?”, I found myself thinking more about what type of servant I want to be. While I have stepped boldly into my role as a study leader, a prayer warrior and a writer, I feel that God has equipped me with so much more. I want to be the type of servant that brings glory to God in all things I do, not just teaching, praying and writing.
The “Parable of the Talents,” reminds us that each talent, no matter how small, holds the potential to create ripples of change in the world around us. Therefore, let us strive to be servants who are not only willing to heed God’s call but also eager to cultivate and share our talents with the world. As we journey together, may we always remember to seek His guidance and trust in His provision, knowing that He equips us with everything good to accomplish His will.
